Covid And The NBA
Covid began December 30 2019. At the beginning of covid, no one seemed to care. Everyone kept on doing whatever they have been doing in their regular life. In a couple of weeks, Covid began to be a problem and the cases started to spread fast. Sports needed to find a solution to keep playing. The NBA stopped playing for a couple of weeks. They also needed to find rules to keep them to playing their game. Covid is becoming a much bigger issue for the NBA.
The NBA needes to create rules to solve the problem of playing during Covid. One solution was the space bubble rule. The rule was that you can not be a couple inches close to a player. That rule did not go as the NBA planned. So the rule was gone after the first game played with the rule in place. Another rule they put in place is that the team would go to the state with fewer cases of covid to play their game. Then they would have to get tested before they go back to their home court. If any player had got covid they would have to quarantine for 2 weeks. The NBA also made it so no fans can come and watch.
Even with all of these rules, there were still some problems. Some players like Russle WestBrook got Covid so the team all had to get tested for covid. Luckily for them, he was the only one to get Covid. So the rest of the team could go back to playing. Another person who got covid is Nicola Jocik. Their team is very lucky as well because he was the only one to get Covid. Someone else who got Covid is Eric Bledsoe. Unfortunately, he was not the only one on his team to get Covid. The first person to get Covid in the NBA was Ruby Gobert. Ruby Gobert plates for the Utah Jazz. Rudy Gobert was interviewed and after the interview he touched all the mics and desk. Another player on the team was upset because of his actions. Even with all these rules, Covid still was spreading among the NBA.
In the end, the NBA needs to keep on moving forward with the rules in place. With the vaccine they should be able to let fans that got the vaccine be able to watch. Hopefully Covid slows down and we go back to normal.
